Lake District Farm Holidays are based at a selection of traditional working farms in
surroundings of oustanding natural beauty.
A group of farmer's wives have come together to offer you the very best in farmhouse accommodation
in the beautiful unspoilt area of northern England known as the Lake District.
To most people the Lakes begin and end at Windermere, but just venture a little further and you
discover a whole new experience. From the border city of Carlisle, with its chequered
history of Romans, Picts and Scots, to the untamed wild fells of Wasdale.
Cockermouth, the birthplace of several famous people, including William Wordsworth,
Fletcher Christian, John Dalton and Fearon Fellowes, is a friendly, bustling market town
with several tourist attractions and museums, including Wordsworth House, birthplace of the poet.
Just a short drive away on the Solway Coast is Maryport, with its fascinating Maritime Museum,
with 'Titanic' associations, a Roman Museum and an excellent aquarium.
The area around Allonby has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
and the village has also received the seaside award, Allonby is a centre for windsurfing
and is on the Smugglers Route Trail, and the Cumbrian Coastal Way.
We are especially proud of our local lakes, Bassenthwaite, Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere,
and the wide variety of spectacular walks at all levels.
Agricultural shows in the summer are an insight ino the country way of life, and often include
hound trailing, sheep dog handling, and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling.
We welcome you to our homes, and hope to give you a deeper insight of the countryside
and our farming way of life.
